310S (old grade 0Cr25Ni20/new grade 06Cr25Ni20) is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. Due to the higher percentage of chromium and nickel, 310S has good creep strength, can operate continuously at high temperatures, and has good high temperature resistance.

Low Carbon Advantage: The Less than or equal to 0.08% carbon content reduces the risk of carbide precipitation (e.g., Cr₂₃C₆) at grain boundaries, which can cause intergranular corrosion.
High Chromium and Nickel: Provide exceptional resistance to oxidation (up to 1150 degree ) and corrosion in extreme environments.
Weldability: Compared to standard 310 (C Less than or equal to 0.25%), 310S requires less post-weld heat treatment.
For applications requiring both high-temperature stability and weldability (e.g., furnace components, exhaust systems), 310S is often preferred over 310.
